Prince Reza Pahlavi announced the launch of “Committee for Drafting of Transitional Justice Regulations” composed of experienced Iranian experts spanning four different generations:
“My dear compatriots,
To you who, over the past five decades, have been victims of the injustice, torture, and repression of the Islamic Republic;
To the grieving mothers and fathers, daughters and sons, sisters and brothers seeking justice—upon whose numbers and suffering this tyrannical regime has added every year, every month, and every day;
Today, with pride, and in pursuit of justice for each and every one of you, I have established the “Committee for Drafting of Transitional Justice Regulations.”
This committee will be tasked with drafting the regulations for a court and a truth-finding commission.
The members of this committee are experienced Iranian experts spanning four different generations:
Dr. Shirin Ebadi,
Mr. Iraj Mesdaghi,
Dr. Leila Bahmani,
and Dr. Afshin Elian.
Dr. Ebadi has agreed to chair the committee.
Additionally, a number of the most distinguished international legal scholars will assist the committee as advisors.
Transitional justice is an essential part of our plan for a lawful transition.
The truth will be revealed.
Justice will be carried out.
Light will triumph over darkness.
